A LITTLE GAME ABOUT NOTICING
Something’s Off.
Look around the kitchen and try to spot what changes.
THE RULES ARE SIMPLE
Look for the change after the lights come back on
You can play with a timer or take your time.
Four seconds to look. Seven to find it.
Why this game?
We can look straight at something and still miss a change. This game borrows from research on change blindness, where a brief interruption can make surprisingly large changes difficult to spot.
It belongs with The Quiet Cost’s questions about what we pay attention to and what we leave unpracticed. It is a game inspired by research, not a validated test or treatment.
Read the change-blindness study ↗Scoring: 100 points for a find, up to 70 for speed, minus 20 per wrong object. Take-your-time mode has no speed bonus. Wrong taps do not end the round. Pause hides the kitchen. You can use Tab and Enter to select objects.
